Bing’s AI chatbot has decided to spread its wings and fly into the realms of Google Chrome and Safari. No longer confined to the Microsoft Edge browser, Bing Chat is now accessible from Bing.com on these two popular browsers. But hold your horses, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
There are a few caveats to using Bing Chat on Chrome and Safari. First off, you’re limited to typing 2,000-word prompts, compared to the 4,000-word limit on Edge. Also, your chatbot conversation will reset after five turns instead of the usual 30. And let’s not forget the pesky pop-ups urging you to download Edge.
Limitations On Chrome and Safari
While its good news Bing Chat has made it to other browsers, Microsoft is keeping the extras to it’s own browser. Here are the limitations on Chrome and Safari.
- you’re limited to typing 2,000-word prompts, compared to the 4,000-word limit on Edge.
- your chatbot conversation will reset after five turns instead of the usual 30.
- pesky pop-ups urging you to download Edge
But it’s not all bad news. Microsoft has introduced a dark mode for Bing Chat. You can switch to this mode by selecting the hamburger menu in the top-right corner of Bing Chat, then hitting Appearance > Dark or System Default. However, it seems this feature is still in the process of being rolled out.
Prior to this, Microsoft’s chatbot was only available on Edge, which was a bit of a pain if you wanted to use it on other browsers. And while you can use Google’s Bard chatbot on browsers other than Chrome, you’ll see prompts to compare your answers to Bing when using Bard on Edge.
Now, let’s get rid of those clichés and repetitive analogies.
Bing’s AI chatbot has expanded its reach to Google Chrome and Safari. Previously restricted to the Microsoft Edge browser, Bing Chat can now be accessed from Bing.com on these widely used browsers. However, there are certain limitations.
Users can only input 2,000-word prompts, half of the 4,000-word limit on Edge. Conversations with the chatbot will also reset after five turns, compared to 30 on Edge. Additionally, users will encounter pop-ups encouraging them to download Edge.
On a positive note, Microsoft has added a dark mode to Bing Chat. This can be activated by selecting the hamburger menu in the top-right corner of Bing Chat, then choosing Appearance > Dark or System Default. This feature is still being rolled out.
Before this update, Microsoft’s chatbot was exclusive to Edge, which was inconvenient for users of other browsers. Although Google’s Bard chatbot can be used on other browsers, prompts to compare answers with Bing appear when using Bard on Edge.
