Shopify, the Canadian ecommerce powerhouse, has decided to jump on the AI bandwagon. They’ve announced that they’re about to launch an AI assistant for their merchants. They’re calling it “Sidekick”, and it’s going to be as handy as a Swiss Army knife for the digital age.
The AI Assistant Revolution
This isn’t a new trend, mind you. We’ve seen a flurry of tech companies, from Alibaba to Zoom to Databricks, all rolling out their own AI assistants. It’s like a digital arms race out there, and it’s all thanks to the success of OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT.
Meet Sidekick
So, what’s the deal with Sidekick? Well, it’s going to be embedded right into Shopify as a button. It’s designed to answer all those burning questions merchants might have, from sales trends to inventory queries. Shopify’s CEO, Tobi Lutke, gave us a sneak peek in a video he posted on Twitter.
More Than Just Answers
But Sidekick isn’t just a glorified FAQ section. It’s also designed to help entrepreneurs update their stores. Want to apply a discount to all items on your website? Just ask Sidekick. It’s like having a digital assistant at your beck and call.
Coming Soon
The only catch? We don’t know when it’s going to be rolled out. The video ended with a tantalizing “coming soon”, but no specific date was given. So, we’ll just have to wait and see.
