Click. Click. Voila! The internet is aflutter with image creation apps like Dall-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion where your wildest fantasies transform into fantastic realities. If stills aren’t thrilling enough for you, hold tight! Video is the next final frontier in this realm of generative AI art.
Now, we’re not exactly at a stage where AI can whip up a Spielberg-esque movie or a binge-worthy TV series just based on your short, witty script. However, let’s not be too hard on them. AI has still got the knack for creating enticing short form content. Education, training, marketing, entertainment – you name it, and there’s an app out there to weave its magic. And if you’re struggling with the script, don’t worry, there’s an app to write it for you.
The sheer number of apps on offer for these abilities can be quite overwhelming. But no worries, we’ve sifted through the clutter and presented the five best, considering their tests, popularity among users, features and price options.
So, what makes the best AI video generators tick? It’s all about how much work it does for you. Starting from choosing the correct footage based on your script from their libraries, all the way to how much control it gives you over editing. We put these apps through their paces by writing a script for an educational video about the ancient city of Petra in Jordan (you know, that UNESCO World Heritage site that everyone loves for movie shoots). Each video ran for one to two minutes.
We’ve had a few hits and misses during the tests. Whenever “Petra” was explicitly mentioned in the script, the apps generally found the right clip. However, without the keyword, it was like finding a needle in a haystack for these apps. Music, voices, and fonts for subtitles are usually down to your personal taste, but it’s undeniable that some AI voices sounded more natural than others.
While these apps offer convenience, they do require some fine-tuning to get the best out of them. So, how extensive are the libraries of videos, photos, music, and voices? How precise are their search tools? And what about the control they provide for audio levels, clip lengths, output dimensions and resolutions, and scene editing? Price, of course, is a key deciding factor.
InVideo, for instance, threw up a massive 15 scenes from our script, and selected the right clip for five out of eleven scenes. Fliki was all about a clean, intuitive interface, offering content generation in an impressive 78 languages. Pictory, while being the most budget-friendly, found the right clip only three out of eleven times. Visla, on the other hand, was the most accurate in finding the right video, succeeding six out of eleven times. Finally, Designs.ai, while being a comprehensive creation tool, was a bit of a letdown with just five correct scenes out of sixteen.
So there you have it, your options for the best AI video generators. Each with their own pros and cons, these tools are pushing boundaries and bringing creativity to our fingertips like never before. Buckle up, folks! The world of AI-generated art is just starting to unfold.
