You know, we’ve all been there. Those endless meetings, the never-ending phone calls, all a blur of words that vanish into thin air as soon as you hang up. Enter PLAUD NOTE, the gadget that promises to be a game-changer, well, for some of us.
PLAUD NOTE: What’s the Deal?
Aiming to transform the way we record and transcribe conversations, the PLAUD NOTE isn’t your run-of-the-mill voice recorder. This sleek device, designed to fit snugly with your iPhone or Android phone, captures your calls and meetings, and then, here’s the clincher, it transcribes the recordings into text and uses ChatGPT to summarize them. No more frantic notetaking or replaying hours of audio to find that one golden nugget of information.
It’s All in the Details
So, what do we get in the box? The PLAUD NOTE voice recorder, a MagSafe case, a magnetic ring, and a USB charging and data transfer cable. The recorder itself boasts 64GB of memory, providing up to 480 hours of recording time. It also includes two Knowles Sisonic™️ mics and can go 30 hours of recording per charge.
The Design: Function Meets Style
The PLAUD NOTE comes with a credit card-sized thin metal case and two control buttons at the top. And for those who are detail-oriented, yes, it does have a magnetic charging port at the bottom. What’s more, it fits into a MagSafe case that can attach to the back of an iPhone, or a metal ring sticker for the Android users out there.
Using the PLAUD NOTE
Operating the PLAUD NOTE is a breeze. It has a switch that toggles between call recording and normal recording modes. And the recording button? Long press to start, long press to stop. But here’s the thing – it’s not just about the hardware.
It’s Also About the App
The PLAUD NOTE app is where the magic happens. It connects to the device, syncs new recordings, and automatically transcribes them into text. But wait, there’s more. You can even choose from several ChatGPT summary styles. Now, that’s what I call leveraging AI!
The Caveat
But, as in most good things, there’s a catch. The transcription and AI features aren’t free. You get a discounted rate of $39 for the first year, and then it’s $9.90 a month. But if you’re not ready to shell out for the extra features, you can still playback and store the audio files for free using the app.
Wrapping Up
While I don’t have much use for the PLAUD NOTE now, it’s clear that this device could be incredibly useful for those still navigating the corporate jungle. However, as with all tech, the real test will be in its widespread adoption and the value users derive from it.
